Another Spooktacular Month At Alpha Works

October Newsletter

October 2020 In this month’s update, we’re talking mental health, members supporting members and all things Halloween. With the nights drawing in, we can’t wait to see the city light up once again from floor 21. There’s something special about Birmingham when the sun sets. It’s also perfect for getting people into the Halloween spirit – seasonal dress up is always welcome here! Finding Your Zen The 10th October marked Mental Health Awareness Day, a day to shine a light on the struggles that so many people face and a reminder that we all need to take time to care for ourselves. Unsurprisingly, the pandemic has had a huge impact on people’s mental health which is why we’ve placed an even bigger focus on keeping the Alpha Works community engaged and active, albeit virtually! Yoga Tuesdays, run by Iain Campbell of Metro Alliance (one of Alpha Tower’s very own residents), has helped us to stay centred during this strange time, and for those who join us, we hope that it’s helping you too. If you’d like to get involved, all you have to do is click the Zoom link sent by Leah each Tuesday and get those yoga pants at the ready! Making A Splash For those of our members with children – or those who are young at heart! – National Sea Life Centre Birmingham is taking a spooky turn this October with its Ascarium event running from 17th October - 1st November. As well as being able to enjoy the usual creatures of the deep, visitors will have the opportunity to navigate a special trail that will take you past some of the ocean’s weirdest residents. You will also be invited to help the sea witches to find the missing ingredients for their potion (if you dare!) With Halloween treats and magical creatures on offer, this haunting experience promises to be light on the tricks and heavy on the treats! Situated just a 5-minute walk away from Alpha, why not explore the depths of the ocean on your lunchbreak this October? sealife centre birmingham break
Sharing The Secret To Killer Copy Hot-Desk member, Nicola Moors , will be running a series of one-to-one copywriting workshops with Birmingham Enterprise Community (BEC) start-ups, sharing her secrets to creating great copy. Copywriting is an essential element of successful marketing, enabling businesses to attract new customers and boost sales. However, putting your offering into words can sometimes be difficult to achieve - this is something that Nicola is passionate about changing. The private sessions will give BEC’s entrepreneurs the skills they need to produce their own creative copy. We love seeing partnerships like this bloom amongst our members! If you would like to learn more about the art of copywriting, Nicola is currently working on a course for business owners on finding the right messaging, so watch this space! Who You Gonna Call? On 30th October, there will be something strange in the neighbourhood, as Millenium Point host a screening of the 1984 classic, ‘Ghostbusters’, with an alcoholic twist. Throughout the night, the audience will be treated to four themed cocktails that pair perfectly with the film, with experts demonstrating how to make each one. COVID-19 protection measures will be in place throughout the night in this spacious venue, allowing guests to stay safe while enjoying a deliciously interactive experience. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Halloween! Thank you for reading October’s newsletter, we hope you’ve discovered something new to try. If you have any queries about anything you’ve read, or you’d like to discuss something Alpha Works-related, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
