We started our street food careers at the first ever Digbeth Dining Club back in 2012, so it’s a birthday celebration for us too. Watching Digbeth Dining Club grow from just a couple of traders in a car park to the force in the industry that it is now has been brilliant, so it’s quite fitting that we’ll be there on the 11th, back where it all began.Speaking of the event, founder of Digbeth Dining Club, Jack Brabant, said:
Our aim at DDC has always been to provide a platform for the best street food traders to cook quality and honest food for the people of the Midlands. While this is obviously a friendly competition with our friends down in London, this is also a brilliant opportunity for our regulars to go up against the capital and showcase how brilliant the Midlands food scene really is. We’re looking to make this a real celebration of all things London and Birmingham. Entertainment, bands and DJ’s will be provided by both cities, even the bars will be split down the middle, showcasing the best of the local breweries and distilleries.Since its inception in 2012, KERB have been a pioneer for British street food, vowing to ‘bring together some of the most exciting cooking happening in London right now’. In just six years, KERB have set up markets in Camden, Kings Cross, Paddington, West India Quay, St. Kats and the Gherkin, operating every single week. Forming the eight members of “Team LDN” are Only Jerkin’, whose Caribbean inspired fried chicken has already swept away the people of the Midlands this year at Digbeth Dining Club. Indonesian BBQ heavyweights, Makatcha, Luxury Flats – who serve Ararat flatbreads with Koji fried chicken – and the self-proclaimed “Original Creators of Halloumi Fries” Oli Babas. “Filthy Vegan Junk Food” specialists, Biffs Jack Shack – who were recommended by the Evening Standard as one of the best places in London to find vegan food will also be trading at the Digbeth Arena for the day. Camden Market residents Stakehaus and Bill or Beak will be trading alongside Smokin’ Lotus. Managing Director of KERB, Simon Mitchell, said
KERB have been really excited to collaborate with a brand like Digbeth Dining Club for some time now. I think this collaboration gives us the opportunity to learn a lot from one another; but this is a battle and we hope our traders prevail!Digbeth Dining Club’s 6th Birthday party will take place on Saturday, 11th August at the Digbeth Arena, from 12PM-10PM.
